Day 38: Moving Boxes...

Ugh. Moving boxes. I don't know what's worse: packing or unpacking. I dislike both equally. lol. By Monday night I couldn't keep up - I was unpacking as fast as boxes were being brought in. All these were piled in the kitchen at the end of the night, even after I'd already emptied a bunch of others...

Day 37: On Being Thankful

Among all the changes with moving into a new house, we also had some major changes occur at church. Our stake reorganized all the ward boundaries and we found out we'll now be attending the Visalia 4th ward. My parents are still in 3rd ward, and Peter's parents are still in 6th. This past Sunday was our last Sunday in 3rd ward, and the bishop got two new counselors because his former counselors will now be attending other wards also. We knew we'd be busy unpacking and moving on Monday, so Sunday night we made some cookies for our bishopric members and had Emily color on some homemade cards that we delivered that night. We even gave a plate of cookies and a card to Grandma & Grandpa whose help we will miss during Sacrament meeting! Okay, well, during all 3 hours of church, really! Heehee. We're excited to be in a new ward, though, and I think it's going to be fun to get to know new people and go to a new building!

Day 36: Moving Day!

Saturday was moving day! With the help of my dad, my father-in-law, and Pete's brother Brian, who drove 3  hours to come help us, about half of our stuff got moved on Saturday, including beds and the majority of the really heavy items. My parents watched our kids most of the day too so we could get as much done as possible. Brian stayed in town until Wednesday and almost singlehandedly moved over the rest of the house! It was great. Emily is still really happy in "Mama's new house" and her new room and play room, and "Daddy's new garage." lol. I get the house and he just gets the garage! Love it. It was nice to be able to sleep in our new place!

Day 35: Last Night!

This pic's pretty terrible (dang flashy flash), but I wanted to document our last night in our old house! Emily and Noah stayed at a friend's house while we finished painting, then we picked them up around 11 pm and went "home" for the last time to our  house on Delta Court. Em stayed up for about 20 minutes hanging out with Pete before going back to bed. The very next night we slept at the new house! Goodbye, old house! You were good to us!

Day 34: Made by Martha

I knew I wanted a nice Tiffany aqua blue color in the kitchen, and I also knew Martha would have just the color I was looking for, so we ended up doing all the rooms with Martha Stewart paint. Her colors are really nice. We ended up with "Enamelware" in the kitchen, "Buckwheat Flour" in the living room/hallway, and "Gull" in the bathroom. It looks so nice! Once we get all the boxes out of the way, I'll take some decent pics of the new colors. We were very fortunate to have good family and friends to help us paint and watch our kids and we got it all done by Friday night - except for the bathroom, which my father-in-law finished Saturday afternoon. I love the new colors!

Day 33: Prep and Paint!

The day after we got the keys to the new casa, we began to paint. The living room was an almost indescribable yellowey brown color, the kitchen this ridiculously dark red, and the guest bath a color that could only be described as avocados that you ate and then puked up. lol! The first night of painting we did a lot of taping and had to lay on a thick coat of primer. The kitchen was so dark it had to be primed twice! Here's Pete's dad working on the kitchen. I was so glad to see that red go!
